Study Skills and Tutoring Resources

Lunchtime tutoring for Math is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during both lunches behind Room 5 (next to Student Services). Look for the sign. Food is allowed, so stay for all or part of your lunch.

Lunchtime tutoring for Science is available Wednesdays, during both lunches. During A lunch, they will be in Room 251 and during B lunch, in Room 241.

Any WCPSS student with a Wake County public library card can access tutor.com for free.

Please note the the Wake County Public School System and Leesville Road High School do not specifically endorse any private tutor or study skills website. A good place to start is to talk with your teacher for resources and support and to take advantage of our lunchtime tutoring sessions.

Khan Academy has over 3,000 videos covering a vast array of academic subjects.
Quizlet lets you make your own online flashcards. You can also go through different activities to help you learn the information.
Brightstorm: Videos on a variety of subjects.

How to Study gives free tips on study skills and memorization strategies.
Homework Center is a great reference tool for many subjects. There is also a dictionary, thesaurus, atlas, and encyclopedia references.
Rewordify changes the vocabulary to make any text easier to understand.
Shmoop: Check out the free study guides and videos on this site.

Time Management: Figure out where all of your time goes.

Math I, Math II, and Math III videos and lessons by subject, straight from Wake County schools. 
​Just Math Tutorials: Patrick makes free math videos on just about every math topic you can think of. 
Cymath works out math problems step-by-step. Plug in the problem, and it breaks down the solution.
Dr. Math lets you browse through questions and answers on math topics.

Math.com is your place for a glossary, calculators, formulas and tables, homework help, practice and games.

Math Words is a glossary of math terms.
​
Math Central has a large database of answers to your math questions. If it is not on their list, you can email them your question.
The Illustrated 
Math Dictionary is a good tool to explain math concepts visually.

Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL): Features resources for MLA guidelines, research and citation help.
Citation Machine: Provides an easy, automatic way to create a list of works cited.
​​Grammar Bytes offers practice grammar quizzes, with explanations.
Guide to Grammar and Writing: Intensive guide for everything from word and sentence level, to paragraph level, to essay and research papers.
LibriVox: Extensive online collection of free audio books read by volunteers.
Literary Terms & Devices Glossary: Detailed list of literary devices and literary terms with definitions, examples, and usage tips.
Poetic Terms Glossary: List of poetic terms, including literary devices, poetic forms and techniques, and schools and movements.

Conjuguemos: Practice verb conjugation.
Spaleon: Help with verb conjugation. 
Spanish Conjugations: This website gives you every possible conjugation of verbs.
Spanish Dictionary: A dictionary you can use to look up words. We don't advise using a translator to understand more than 1-2 words.
Spanish Language & Culture: Good site for practicing grammar.

SpanishSpanish: Spanish online flashcards.

Assistive Technology Apps

Note Taking: Take notes, organize them, and make deadline lists using Evernote. 
Online Planner: Google Calendar help you organize your classes and set reminders for due dates on tests and assignments.
Read Aloud: Natural Reader reads aloud pdf and word documents. Converts text to speech in emails and Google docs.
Scanners: Turn your phone into a scanner using Cam Scanner, Office Lens, or Adobe Scan. Will convert pictures to pdf files. Take pictures of
                   the teacher's board, and download it into a word document that you can edit or have read aloud to you.
To Do Lists: Make task lists with Todoist or Any.do.
