Somethings App

Students have access to free, on-demand peer support through our partnership with Somethings. Students can sign up for the app for free at: https://link.somethings.com/WCPS-students and start connecting after school with trained peer mentors. The Certified Peer Specialist Mentors are young adults trained and supervised by licensed clinicians who have lived experience with many of the challenges teens face. Support is available through messaging or video calls. While not therapy, Somethings is designed for a wide range of needs, including: anxiety, depression, school stress, self-confidence, friendships/relationships, grief/loss, loneliness, or when a student simply needs someone to talk to.

Wake County Social Service Resources

Wake County Public Schools has put together a list of Community Resources to connect with housing and shelter resources, along with financial assistance and basic needs.

Wake Network of Care is an online database that is a one-stop shop for resources, assistance, health information, and advocacy tools. Locate Wake County programs and services, crisis services, and a health library.

To access social services in Wake County, click here: Wake County Human Services

To search for affordable housing options, go to NCHousingSearch.org.

For housing assistance, families should start with a visit to a Coordinated Entry Access Site. For financial assistance with rent and/or utility assistance, search on the Wake Network of Care for housing assistance programs. The Telamon Corporation also provides mortgage and foreclosure assistance. Families can also call 211 or go to 211nc.org, click on “Basic Needs” and select “Housing and Shelter.” This will connect to a list of the closest providers, their hours and their contact information.
