2026-27 Course Registration Information
How Classes are Offered at LRHS
1. LRHS is on a block schedule, which means students take 4 classes first semester and then 4 new classes second semester.
2. Students register for 8 main classes as they are choosing classes for the entire school year.
3. They must also select 4 alternate classes. Alternates are classes that the student would be okay taking, if some of their 8 main classes are full or do not work in their schedule.
4. Some electives are very popular so often students do not get their main choices this is why alternate selections are so important.
5. Electives can be any class in any area of instruction.
6. Wake County has an open class selection practice. Students can register for any class they wish to take as long as they have taken the prerequisite class. This includes taking an Honors level or AP level class.
7. Efforts are made to balance a student’s schedule as much as possible. However, if a student takes several honors classes and a world language, one semester will most likely be a bit heavier with course work.

View the slides from the Rising 9th Grade Open House that was held on February 11. We will have a freshmen orientation in August before school starts (date to be announced).
Students coming to LRHS from a private, charter or homeschool should first complete the Online Enrollment Process. Once that is done, the parent/guardian will receive an email from our office on the next steps to complete the enrollment process in person. During that time, a counselor will meet with the parent and student to select courses.
